The Delete Key

The delete key is one of my favorite tools in keeping my photos organized. Yet I rarely use it with supplies after organizing. Recently I was listening to this show and heard Anna talking about her process of deleting digital  supplies every year. It’s been on my mind for awhile now as something to think about doing.

I was recently organizing some new supplies. Keeping in mind the idea that deleting some old things might be good, I decided to check out my Alphas – I use them so rarely. Well one thing led to another and then I was here:

Lightroom

And then I made another pass at it-
Lightroom
Which brought my alpha collection down to 2888 items… which left me feeling 50 pounds lighter and smiling from ear to ear.

I’m curious, do you delete?

  1. I love my delete key!! Since I’ve been organizing all my supplies and moving my photos over to Lightroom I’ve used it quite often. Sometimes it can be a little nerve racking when I have over 200 photos in one folder to be deleted, but I still do it. I do feel lighter when I’m done, too. :)

    • It is interesting for me that as I buy and process more kits, organizing has actually caused me to be more reflective of what I buy – I have to really love it. It’s saved me so much money!

  2. Gonna do it! I rarely use alphas either and that’s a good place to start! Thanks for the “motivation.” What will you delete after that? ;-)

    • Not sure yet – but when I do I’ll definitely let you know! :) I’m leaning toward staples/ribbon/stitching – the basics you use all the time but don’t need a million different kinds of. I have a couple of projects to wrap up and when I get those done I’ll be back on it!

  3. Yes I do! I delete pictures daily, with every upload. I need to go through old folders and delete old pictures from before I realized I take too many photos to save them all. And if you were asking about digi-scrap supplies, I haven’t deleted as much, but I have become much pickier about what I download in the first place.

  4. I am a bit delete happy. I try to go through my supplies every few months and delete anything I haven’t used and know I will never use because it isn’t my style. In fact, when I organized everything in Adobe Organizer (not my favorite program but it’s what i have right now). I deleted almost all the freebies I had unless they were from designers I absolutely loved, and a good 50% of purchases that I had never used.

I haven’t regretted losing any of it.

    Yet.

  5. I’m just about ready to get all my photos into Lightroom and the delete key will get a good workout as I’ve been very inconsistent about it in the past. When I get the photos done, then I’ll tackle the digital supplies.
