Class Break

We’re at a place in this class where I need to add some new content. This requires a few things – writing the content, writing the video content, recording the video content and editing the video. Then uploading the video and bringing it all together here.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem. When I originally setup the start of class in October, the final date for our home to be finished was September 12th. No problem – get in, get settled for a few weeks and then dust off this content…
Fast forward a few months and our move in date is this Friday. Which means this is the week I’m scrambling behind the scenes around here to get things ready to move from our condo and storage unit. I’m also working at an office where I’ve got projects that need to be done and I’m struggling to find the time to do just that.
Bottom line – if you saw my to-do list this week you’d probably be a little overwhelmed. Or maybe it’s just me. Either way, I really want this class to be great which means it is taking a bit longer to dust it off than I had planned.
Especially since there are a few really important things I want to add – like HOW TO ORGANIZE JUST YOUR PREVIEWS in Lightroom. This preview piece is what I need to create right now and why I’m calling for a break. I hope to give myself about two weeks to get moved, get a little settled and then finish that tiny piece of content.
The good news is that when we are done this content will be up as part of the blog. So there is no rush. It’s kind of like the dining room table I finished this weekend. The first coat of paint looked ok but the color was just a tad off. I was in a hurry because I wanted to get it and a few other pieces done this weekend so they would be ready to move into our home.
However, I realized this furniture is going to be in my house for a long time. I took an extra trip to the paint store, picked out a much better color of paint and spent my entire time allotted for four pieces just on that ONE table…
I had hoped to finish the table, hutch, chalkboard and side table…
I probably would have been able to do that had I stuck with my plan to pain the table a plain distressed white. However, looking at the table now, the extra time it took to paint it grey & white and then add the butter yellow stenciling is something I’ll enjoy for years to come.
With that perspective I feel great about postponing the next segment of class. I think organizing previews is a smart place to start. This way many of you can see how you like having a tiny segment of your supplies in Lightroom before you go through the extremely involved process the original class outline taught.
So thanks in advance for hanging in this with me and being patient. I hope it will be worth the wait…
